【statement】
「ヒトとケモノのあいだ」を主題とし自然と文明両方に対する畏怖をさまざまな表現を通じ模索しています。
ヒトとはいわゆる「人間」と定義づけられる生き物のことで、ケモノとは人間が「人間ではない」と定義付けている生き物全般を指す言葉として使用しています。ヒトとケモノの間には知性、文明、衛生感、理性といった観点で深い乖離があります。
しかし、私たちヒトは本当にケモノからは完全に逸脱した生き物なのでしょうか？
人間が「ここからは人間である」と引いた境界線を、私は踏み越えることなく生きているのか？と疑問に思うところから、私の制作は始まりました。

自然界において、ケモノの身体は死後腐り他の生き物に分解され栄養となりますが、ヒトの暮らす文明社会では腐敗は不衛生と不快感を生み、これを受け入れることは歴史上避けられてきました。ケモノのように自分の体が他者の養分となり世界の中を循環することを私は羨ましく思います。それと同時にほとんどのヒトがそうであるように、死後重苦しい肉体を燃やし尽くされて軽い灰となることを、少し楽しみにしている自分もいます。
また、ビルで溢れた都会で暮らす間は豊かな自然が恋しくなりますが、反対に自然の中で生活をすると都会の明かりが恋しくなることがあります。人の行き交う明るい繁華街にも真っ暗で灯りのない夜の浜辺にも、私は恐怖と同時にどこか安心感と尊敬の念を抱きます。
相反する感情を抱きながらも人間が生きていく上では関わり続けなければいけない「ヒトの世界とケモノの世界」と「その世界の境界」を街や自然の中を散策することで発見し作品制作を行なっています。

浜辺を歩き見つけた打ち上げられた生き物や、人が海辺で暮らす様子から発想を得た作品が多いです。神奈川県の海岸沿いをモデルにした絵も多くあり、その土地ならではの街や自然の空気感と自身の考える死生観や宗教観を合体させた絵を描くことがテーマでもあり、楽しみでもあります。
基調となっているオレンジの色味は、生命の大元である太陽の光、その太陽が沈む時の空の色、血肉の色、生命の色、など複合的な意味合いを持っています。
画材は多岐に渡り、岩絵具や墨を使用したものからアクリリック絵の具や色鉛筆、クレヨンを使った作品まで幅広い画材を使い制作しています。支持体も紙や木製パネルにとどまらず鍋や浜辺で拾った石に描くこともあります。

I am exploring the theme of "between humans and beasts" through various expressions of awe toward both nature and civilization.
I use the term "human" to refer to creatures defined as "human" and "animal" to refer to all creatures that humans define as "non-human. There is a deep divergence between humans and beasts in terms of intelligence, civilization, hygiene, and rationality.
But are we humans really creatures completely deviated from beasts?
Am I living without stepping over the line that humans have drawn, "From here on I am human"? My work began with the question.

In the natural world, the bodies of animals rot after death and are decomposed by other living creatures to become energy. I envy the fact that, like animals, our bodies become energy for others and circulate through the world. At the same time, there is a part of me that looks forward, as most of us do, to the light ashes that will burn away our heavy bodies after death.
Also, while living in a city filled with buildings, I miss the abundance of nature, but on the other hand, living in nature sometimes makes me miss the lights of the city. I feel both fear and a sense of security and respect at the same time, both for the bright downtown where people come and go and for the dark, unlit beach at night.
I create artworks by discovering "the world of humans and the world of animals" and "the boundary between the two worlds" through walks in the city and in nature, which are conflicting feelings, but which humans must continue to be involved with in order to live.

Many of my artworks are inspired by the creatures I finds washed up on the beach and the way people live by the sea. I enjoy painting pictures that combine the atmosphere of the town and nature unique to the area with my own view of life and death and religious beliefs.
The color orange, the base color of my paintings, has a complex meaning: the light of the sun, which is the source of energy, the color of the sky when the sun sets, the color of flesh and blood, the color of life, and so on.
The materials used for my paintings are diverse, ranging from mineral pigments and sumi ink to acrylic paints, colored pencils, and crayons. I sometimes paints on pots and stones found on the beach, as well as on paper and wooden panels.
